king ubu Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Sad news. Just found this lengthy interview (in French) - seems like a very fun read: http://www.allumesdujazz.eu/~blog/index.php?2007/01/15/13-bernard-vitet-memoires-dun-dilettante Quote
clifford_thornton Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Oh No!!! What a shame. La Guêpe is a great album. Quote
brownie Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Another good one gone... Heard him on numerous occasions (with Michel Portal, Sonny Murray, Alan Silva, François Tusques and others). He will be missed! Quote

He will be missed! That would've been something. Yeah I'm always in awe when I hear stories from older people about seeing all these greats "back in the day"! I've talked to people who've seen Albert Ayler, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and also people who have been to the German free jazz festivals in the early 70s and saw all the European greats (arguably) in their prime...
