alocispepraluger102 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 booted today by the firm he founded. i was not a fan of his business, but i was definitely a geo. zimmer fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7JsRuciK_EI Quote
Tim McG Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Yeah, I don't get this one at all. By his account, the Men's Wearhouse BOD has decided to keep him from voicing his concerns by firing him. Can we be far from bankruptcy court...? Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted June 20, 2013 Author Report Posted June 20, 2013 if you've encountered george online, he definitely spoke his piece loudly. many would call him vulgar and rude. Quote
CraigP Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 You're going to need a nice suit when you look for a job...I guarantee it! Quote

BeBop Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) I always wonder if they won't bring a founder/key dude back. Think Charles Schwab, Howard Schultz, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs. (I hope all those examples are correct, but you get the idea.) Edited June 21, 2013 by BeBop Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Shame to see a founder dissed. That is only one of the bad things about corporate america. Quote

The only reason young people don't patronize the MW is cost. It is the only reason I don't go there all the time. Firing Zimmerman doesn't change the MW problem with asking too much for a suit. I think selfish EGO is the issue here. Quote

JSngry Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 Their tux rental service is damn near impeccable, though (at least here it is). We used them for our son's wedding, and you could not ask for better service. Come to think of it, the few times I've bought there (maybe 5-6 times over the last 25 or so years), the service was always top-shelf. If you pay those prices and get good merchandise with that type of service, it seems like a fair enough deal, if not a particularly affordable one. Quote

In our discussions with Mr. Zimmer, we made considerable efforts to find a solution that would have allowed him to continue to have a significant involvement with Men's Wearhouse. Unfortunately, Mr. Zimmer wouldn't accept anything other than full control of the company and the Board was left with no choice but to terminate him as Executive Chairman. "As a Board, we care deeply about the culture of Men's Wearhouse, which we fostered and helped create along with the management team and our 17,000 valued employees. We stand behind its core values of world-class customer service, servant leadership and the open door culture that celebrates the value of every voice.
