Where do people sell unopened OOP Mosaic boxes these days?

Recommended Posts

Something to consider:

Selling on ebay is NOT what it used to be. One could say it has evolved, from favoring the sellers, to putting things in place to protect the buyers, to now somewhere in between, but still favoring the buyer. The scams, the 10% cut that ebay takes, in addition to the 3% that paypal (owned by ebay) takes, and exorbitant shipping costs drove a few (including myself) away from considering ebay as a place to sell. Still, if you are looking to maximize your investment, it may be the best choice, though, like others have said, the runaway costs for many of the OOP boxes have gone down. You could do Amazon, but they also take 10-20% off your total, depending on selling price. Or you could list them on forums, such as this one.

I no longer think music buying as investments a viable option, but that is just me. I did it for over ten years, saw some good things come out of it, and moved on. Now I am downsizing my collection and concentrating on enjoying the music that interests me.

I think the best way to make a lot of money from out of print Mosaics is to own Half Price Books. Then you can instruct the staffers at your stores to buy them for about $5.00 and put them for sale in the music section for $500.00.

Post of the week!

I am no longer planning to sell them.I will donate them to the causes of world peace and justice..................and music appreciation..

I think that you can get a decent price for out of print Mosaics by listing them on the major music forums, including this one.

I agree with other posters that the ebay days of highly competitive auctions, where buyers were fighting each other to the last minute of an auction, driving the price up higher and higher in the final moments, with disappointed bidders shocked that someone else had come in at the last second and snatched the item away with a super high last second bid --that seems to be gone.

ebay has seemed to evolve into mostly selling music through set prices listed by the sellers, which are often rather high but without the potential of runaway bidding leading to very high prices.

Once in awhile it's actually the music on them that matters. Many of the out of print sets have the music available as individual releases (sometimes inexpensively) where that wasn't the case when the OOP Mosaic sets were released. Sometimes the masterings of the nonMosaic releases are preferred. And sometimes not - you know how remastering goes on discussion boards.
