JSngry Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Why is it always so quiet? Why does it come more often when you feed them good food? Why do they prefer being good all day and them climb into bed with you at night and then bring it on in full? And finally of all the flatulence odors available,, why did dogs choose the most malodorant stifling scent available? Quote
mikeweil Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Close your sleeping room door, Jim - no other choice. Some metabolisms simply are not perfect. Quote
Noj Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Dog farts really are incredibly potent. Eye-watering. Quote
Quincy Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Although it's not the only cause, if you've just adopted a cat from a shelter farts are a sign that the kitty probably needs another round of dewormer. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Dog farts really are incredibly potent. Eye-watering. You have obviously never roomed with my drummer. Quote
JSngry Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 I used to know a drummer whose nickname was "Cheeto-fart". I never knew why until we did a weekend out of town... But...dog gas is just nasty in a way that no human flatulence I've ever experienced has been. There must be some neuro-chemical thing going on with that, like how we seldom find our own flatulence as offensive as do others. Odd topic, I know, but....god knows I love my dog, but last night he was right up in my face sleeping and...wow. Thanks for letting me vent, Organissimo, and no thanks, Josh, for venting when you did. BAD DOG!!!! But I love him anyway. Quote
jazzbo Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 When you change food on a pet, you're asking for it. Quote
JSngry Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 But we went to Blue Buffalo, and it's been a few months now. That stuff is stoopidcrazyexpensive, but when you see an 11 year old Golden Retriever pick up like he has, it's like, ok, right choice if we can afford it. I wonder if LTB snuck him some contraband yesterday...she's been known to to that from time to time... Quote
sgcim Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 My brother's dog is eleven, and has had IBD for two years, so when he's going though a bad period, his gas smells like some sort of metallic neurotoxin that they'd use to smoke out some terrorist who's holed up in an underground bunker. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 when my first dachs, snoopy, had an event(ripped one), it was usually while standing on his hind quarters, soliciting table hand outs while we were dining. he would then look around the room with his "who did that?" quizzical look. Scott Dolan Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 My dog is 112 lbs and his farts sound like human farts. And he always sits down to fart. Not sure if he thinks sitting will hold it in, or whether he's playing the acoustics. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 my daughter's late 112 lbsish rott never passed gas that i can recall Quote
Noj Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 My friend Omar's boxer Ace would regularly rip farts of an unbelievable stench. The sharpest, most overwhelming odor I have ever encountered. And I've been a janitor off and on for years, so I have a well-tested nose. Quote
