Dan Gould
Hey Jim, you should figure out a way to incorporate that snippet of Soul Woman into the final recording and track it numero uno. What a great way to kick off the record, you alone on Big John's instrument then the band coming in. Or at least edit the performance that way for the DVD. Really looking forward to this ... Jim Alfredson
That's not a bad idea. It would be cool to track it for real on that organ. Maybe a good excuse to take the wife to Austin, TX this fall.

bertrand
Any new updates? I know you've been on the road in such dreadful places as Italy and Spain. The life of a musician is rough Bertrand.
Jim Alfredson
Day three of tracking the project. It's going really well. Friday was the trio plus vibes. Yesterday was just the trio. Today will be the trio with trumpet and tenor. I'm looking forward to mixing this and editing the video.

Chuck Nessa
I was in the studio today and Glenn said you recorded a hundred tunes for this project. If this isn't a big set, the tunes must be really short! Short Grooves indeed.
Jim Alfredson
We recorded about 20 tracks over the three days. The CD has 9 tracks on it and it's 60 minutes worth of music.

Tim McG
We recorded about 20 tracks over the three days. The CD has 9 tracks on it and it's 60 minutes worth of music. Does this mean a possible second Big John Patton tribute CD in the offing? If so, I'm in! Edited September 24, 2013 by GoodSpeak

Rooster_Ties
So what's the complete sessionography look like? i.e., what are the names of all 20 tunes? Would love to get my head around what all was finally done for this project, both the 9 tunes on the CD -- but everything else too. And then piece together where the originals came from (what albums they represent). Haven't been following things as closely as some around here, but never the less, I'm really looking forward to hearing the results!!!

Soul Stream
Fantastic Jim!, congrats on it all and what an accomplishment...that's a lot of songs and hard work (Patton songs ain't easy either folks!). bertrand
What is 'My Valentine'? Bertrand.
Jim Alfredson
My Valentine is a ballad written by Paul McCartney. We gave it the ol' "Further Adventures of Jimmy & Wes" treatment. It doesn't really have much to do with Patton but it was such a great take, I had to put it on there. Plus it will probably get a lot of airplay, which is always good.
