Blue Train
http://www.bloomberg.com/infographics/2013-10-23/mlb-team-values.html mlb valuations and revenues. Yeah, the price for the Dodgers changed things....though; I still don't think they're worth that much....especially with the parking lot guy/con artist from Boston still controlling a good deal of the land around the stadium....and no regional channel. Now, once the regional channel goes into effect.... Edited October 24, 2013 by Blue Train
Tim McG
well haha Cardinals got Weird Baseball against them too-night, so sad, not. I'm really having a hard time pulling for anybody in this series, I mean, the Cardinals play Devil Ball, and the most obnoxious fans - no - PEOPLE< I've ever been around in my life were a buttload )as in BUTTload) of drunk Red sox fans in Arlington on a night when the Red Sox were committing baseballporn against the Rangers and their drunken fans were all, like, backroom live porn spectators making whore jokes and hey "degrade" her some MORE HAHAHAHAHARRRRR, I mean truly/really obnoxious repulsive people, literally thousands of them, with no decency or courtesy whatso ever, but Cardinals...there's large quantities of loathsome individuals who come together like flies on shit, and then there's The Devil Incarnate, Inc. I miss Napoli. Of all the player shifting we've done the last two years, that's the one (the only one, really) I wish we had back, and I know I'm not the only one. Will not pull for either "team", but will be happy if Napoli gets a ring. It has been my experience that the most obnoxious fans on the planet are New York Yankees fans. Bar none. the Dodgers fans would be a very close second. Both sets of fans will come into your ballpark and act like they own it. As to the Cardinals hate, my understanding is these guys are all farm hands or home grown. So, I don't see what the problem could be. I guess it's different depending on where you go in the East/Midwest. Edited October 25, 2013 by GoodSpeak
Blue Train
Speaking of the Dodgers. They signed Alexander Guerrero for $28 million over 4-years. That means Mark Ellis option probably won't be picked up and Cano's options are really limited. P.S. Really hard to tell with international players....especially from Cuba....but I think the Dodgers win on the Cuban defector signings. Abreu can't field, or run. Yes, it's the AL and he can play DH....but a hitter with an alleged slow bat....who has weight issues. It's also the White Sox...who have a bunch of holes. Remind me again which team had recently had a fan kill another team's fan recently....also which had a fan throw a banana @ Adam Jones (who is African-American) just a couple months ago....? Whose team had to apologize for their fans? And which teams fans are regularly also ranked as one of the worst?...even by other fans of the team? One ranking them second behind Philly fans. Oh yeah, whose team's fans have riots after WS wins? Once again, glass houses. P.S. "All farm hands or home grown"?....you can't make that up. ghost of miles
The comedy of errors changed casts last night. The Cards' Game 1 infield pop-up "you got it, right?... I don't got it" miscue reminded me of a similar Angels mishap in Game 1 of the 2009 ALCS: http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=7060605&game_pk=263167

Blue Train
Now it's back to St. Louis. Ortiz is either going to have to play first. He's played 6 games @ 1st this year. Also means Napoli sits 2-3 of the games. Edited October 26, 2013 by Blue Train
Blue Train
Nationals hired Matt Williams to be manager. His only experience is in the AZ Fall League. Seems like they're flushing they're young talent the next few years for him to learn on the job. He's also the first admitted PED user to become a manager. Blue Train
Lester's glove from game 1. Rosin really shouldn't look that color. Even he can't explain why it's that color. Of course, on a cold night....the last thing you would use is Vaseline, or anything similar....you would use something similar to pine tar. Can't find a picture of something called firm grip. The whole thing isn't Kosher. Edited October 26, 2013 by Blue Train

Blue Train
I know for sure @ least in my lifetime I haven't seen an ending like that. It was the correct call, but still.....Crazy! Has there ever been an obstruction call to end a game in World Series, or any playoff game? I know there was an obstruction in the 2006 (which also involved the Cardinals), but that didn't end the game. Edited in. The wiki page on obstruction has already been changed to add in what just happened in the game. Chalupa
Interesting that the guy who made the obstruction call at 3rd was Jim Joyce - the same guy that blew the 1st base call that cost that kid from the Tigers a perfect game a few years back. This time he made the right call.
BERIGAN
Well, if I had a nickel for every game I have seen that ended on an obstruction play....I'd have 5 cents! Sucks that a game had to end that way... You know what else sucks? That ratings for the W.S. keep dropping....some possible explanations given here... http://www.policymic.com/articles/70113/world-series-2013-ratings-baseball-needs-to-get-its-groove-back
BERIGAN
How lame...more sports "fans" would rather watch 2 lousy football teams than the W.S. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/24/vikings-giants-generates-higher-rating-than-world-series-game-1/ Edited October 27, 2013 by BERIGAN

Williams was the Diamondbacks' third base coach for the last few years. Metheny didn't have managerial experience either but look where he is! This move does not look like flushing the young talent to me.
Tim McG
Tough way to end Game 3, but the runner was clearly interfered with at 3B.The other issue was that insipid interview [Do we really care about some bearded catcher DURING the game?] while a bobbled ball in CF led to a weird out at 2B.http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/fans-react-fox-playing-david-ross-interview-over-015757087--mlb.htmlFoxSports needs to be permanently excused from doing all WS and Playoff games. Larry Kart
Late to the party, but to all you McCarver bashers, here FWTW are two Facebook posts from my friend and former Chicago Tribune colleague Alan Solomon, the best baseball beat reporter I've ever read (he covered the White Sox for seven years) and the husband of Carrie Muskat, the veteran Chicago-based AP baseball writer. Before the Series began: "Best two teams in baseball. And a final round for the vastly underappreciated Tim McCarver. Those of us who know appreciate him." After last night: "...and as pal Tim Clodjeaux correctly observed earlier on another thread, in all the chaos, Buck and McCarver did a great job of immediately picking up on what happened and explaining it. Not a false word -- no mistaken call, no confusion, no outrage. Imagine, if you can stand the pain, Chip Caray or Dick Stockton on that play."
