A Lark Ascending Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 This is a boutique box with a difference. When you remove the shrink wrap it automatically catches fire and destroys the contents. Another one in the eye for the bourgeoisie. Quote
David Ayers Posted March 14, 2013 Author Report Posted March 14, 2013 Interestingly, some of the recordings seem to be licensed from Warner, and one I think from Harmonia Mundi. Quote
David Ayers Posted March 26, 2013 Author Report Posted March 26, 2013 (edited) Lucid Boulez interview from 1967: http://www.gramophone.co.uk/features/focus/90th-anniversary-interviews-pierre-boulez If he's anything he's consistent - this has been pretty much his program ever since. It's also evident from this how much he has always thought about audience and how much myth-making ('anti-audience' ' where's the melody' etc) has been done by people who prefer older music and haven't taken much interest in the last (now) 100 years. I have often found myself making the same point he makes here about the comparative expectations of the audiences of visual arts and music. What the recent BBC Proms performances of Boulez by Barenboim brought home was how recordings have made many Boulez pieces into old friends. Over time they settle down and the flutter of detail continues to entice when more apparently populist pieces have lost their interest. Edited March 26, 2013 by David Ayers Quote
Carl Baugher Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 I just ordered this from MDT who seems to have the best price around. Although it shows as being released it's still listed as a "pre-order" and it hasn't shipped. Looks like a great box! Quote
Carl Baugher Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Just got this today! Can't wait to delve into it...soon. Quote
