BeBop Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) Asda, a British retailer owned by Wal-Mart Group (NYSE: WMT), is considering a bid for bankrupt HMV, according to The Telegraph. Restructuring firm Hilco also is expected to bid, having already purchased HMV’s debt. Deloitte is managing the process. www.hmv.com Edited March 13, 2013 by BeBop Quote

BillF Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Hooray, Manchester Fopp (and other HMV stores) rescued - and not by Wal-Mart! http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/apr/05/hmv-sold-hilco-saves-jobs-shops Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Hope it works out - especially the promise to return to the music/DVD focus. I hardly frequent music stores at all these days but when I am in a town for one reason or another it would be nice to browse a music section with some depth of catalogue. Quote
BillF Posted June 6, 2013 Report Posted June 6, 2013 First time to Manchester Fopp today since they emerged from the HMV debacle. Great to see them alive and kicking! As if to celebrate, they had a large display of classic jazz albums on Atlantic for £3 each. Quote

I'll be sure to make a visit to one of their stores when I'm in the Big Smoke next week (The Southern one, that is ) Quote
