StarThrower Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Anyone pick up any of these? I ordered the two Air CDs. http://www.candidrecords.com/index.php?cPath=41 Quote
brownie Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I purchased Walt Dickerson's 'Tell Us Only the Beautiful Things' from the series and I have only beautiful things to say about it... Quote
JSngry Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Yes, to all so far, also to the Charles Sullivan program. Quote

StarThrower Posted March 11, 2013 Author Report Posted March 11, 2013 previous threads: Wow. You can't say there's no interest here The search engine doesn't always work for me. I typed in Why Not before I started this thread and got nothing. Quote
king ubu Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I always do google searches ... got the above hits by entering "why not site:organissimo.org" - works much better than the board search function (which will not deliver any results for three-letter words anyway, I think). Quote
walt Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I dig Donald Smith-Luv(on WhyNot/Candid).Piano trio with Cecil McBee-bass,Jack DeJohnette-drums.The tune "The Magnetic A" is a bad ass, beautiful tune. Quote
paul secor Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I have the 2 Airs, Dickerson: Beautiful Things, Abrams, Freeman: Morning Prayer, & Curson all on Why Not LPs bought back in the early days. Fine stuff. I probably should pick up the second Dickerson and the Monty Waters. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 The Monty Waters is real good. Some of these I have on India Navigation (the Freeman, Abrams and Air LPs). I'd like to hear the Donald Smith and also the second Dickerson (never saw that on LP, actually). Quote
felser Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I own and am very pleased with the Abrams, Freeman - Morning Prayer, Sullivan, Bonner, Curson and both Dickerson titles. I'm also familiar with the Barron and Fortune, and they are also pretty good. Quote
StarThrower Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 I received my Air CDs. Love 'em! Will be picking up some more titles including the Abrams piano disc, and Monty Waters. Quote
felser Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 The 'George Cables' is nice ! I just picked this up to complete an order from jazzmessengers.com (they're the real dirty bastids, with the free shipping on 60eu orders), and am blown away by it. Expected to like it, but not like this. As enjoyable to me as any trio set I have ever heard, and I never even thought of myself as a huge Cables guy. His writing on this is outstanding. Highly recommended. Quote
