Chuck Nessa Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 and I would like a new BMW 3 series in my driveway. Quote
J.A.W. Posted February 21, 2013 Author Report Posted February 21, 2013 Not long ago a copy went on eBay for a reasonable amount, with only 1 bidder. Missed out on that one due to an error on my part. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 That's the one of those Phonogram/Fontana CDs, along with Touching, that I see around on eBay, etc. I'll keep an eye out for you. It's a great record.Do you do Discogs? None currently offered there but I feel like I have seen it on that site in the past... Quote

romualdo Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) this Japanese dealer has carried the Roling PHCE CD's but they've been pricey ($60+) http://www.ebay.com....=&_trksid=p3686 Edited February 21, 2013 by romualdo Quote

He has supplied me with a few rare CDs, but his prices are indeed pretty steep. Edited February 21, 2013 by J.A.W. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Why don't you just order from Downtown Music Gallery. They have most of the fontanas "reissues" available. Edited February 21, 2013 by Stefan Wood Quote
Clunky Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 CD-R not welcome. I'd like this date on LP or CD but no way I'd pay for a CD-R Quote

Several reasons: these are CD-Rs and, as I said in my first post, I don't want a CD-R, and I'm not going to support activities such as selling unauthorized CD-Rs of copyrighted material. Do they at least clearly advertise these discs as CD-Rs? When I last ordered from them through their own website (not eBay) some years back they only made a distinction between new and used discs without going into specifics about the condition used discs were in. I only ordered new DIW discs from them (with complete satisfaction). Quote
Bol Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I wish that these Fontana recordings were re-issued by Universal Japan. So many recordings get re-issued every year, it seems. Why not these? Quote

After a few of these "Roling" CD's myself but am reluctant to pay the high prices (whenever they do turn up) - maybe I should search out the LP's (some of the "Roling" covers were Japanese LP issue only AFAIK) I'm fascinated by the cover art - those 16 (are there more?) lithographed covers designed by Marte are my favourite Jazz LP sleeves - wasn't aware that she based her designs on some of our own Brownie's (Guy Kopelowicz) photographs http://jazzlab.iwarp...discography.htm They would make a wonderful reissue/facsimile LP box set I'm also hoping the Japanese will reissue the series again on CD Edited February 22, 2013 by romualdo Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 The ownership of the entire series is divided between (original owners) Danish Debut, Black Lion (Alan Bates), Fontana, Riverside, etc. Much confusion between owners Fontana and Black Lion (Freedom). Bates lost much of his holdings to DA and only Japanese Universal takes a chance. I could type a couple of pages about this. Quote

jlhoots Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 They'll come out about the same time the BeeHive albums get reissued. Quote
David Ayers Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Well, I'm always saying it - great title, one of several tasty Fontana/Roling titles. Make great reissues. Come on Andorra Quote
