soulpope Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Looking for this CD is best possible condition !! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Good luck. I find that the Fontana LPs are much easier to find than those CDs! It is an excellent album; I have the UK pressing from the late '60s with the "Jazz Life" cover art. Quote
soulpope Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) Good luck. I find that the Fontana LPs are much easier to find than those CDs! It is an excellent album; I have the UK pressing from the late '60s with the "Jazz Life" cover art. Yes, you`re right. I do have the LP(s) too, but as three rather long tracks each (aprox 25 minutes) were squeezed lp`s sides, I wondered wether the CD edition would feature a more dynamic transfer (espec. jimmy woode`s bass !!)....don`t get me wrong, it`s a great session and getting this cd would be just an added bonus to me.... Speaking of running times, subject discography http://www.jazzdisco...rsonTed-ldr.php features substantially longer tracks 3&4 Date: May 13, 1966 Location: Baarn, Netherlands Label: Fontana Ted Curson (ldr), Booker Ervin (ts), Ted Curson (t), Jimmy Woode (b), Edgar Bateman (d) a. 01 Roy's Boys - 15:31 (Ted Curson) b. 02 You Don't Know What Love Is - 8:21 (Don Raye, Gene DePaul) c. 03 Cinq Quatre - 12:10 (Ted Curson) d. 04 Musis Sacrum - 12:19 (Ted Curson) e. 05 The Leopard - 7:57 (Ted Curson) f. 06 Latino - 10:35 (Ted Curson Is this an error or are these mastertape infos and the released tracks are edited ?? Just wondering..... Thnx for your feedback, regards Emil Edited February 19, 2013 by soulpope Quote

Those are the same timings I have when I transferred the LP to digital files so I guess that there's no editing involved. Quote

Clunky Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 I find that the Fontana LPs are much easier to find than those CDs! Bizarre ! Mines the 'Jazz Life' version too. Er.... mine too. Although it's Dutch IIRC. Excellent session. Quote
peterintoronto Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 I bought my copy of 'Urge' from DMG. It's a professional cd-r issue (as are the other 6-7 in the series I also got from them), but I don't know if that's a deal-breaker for you. Quote
colinmce Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) Was this a long time ago, or recently? Nevermind, I've started a thread about this because it does not compute: Edited February 20, 2013 by colinmce Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 I'm of the mind that the Marte Roling cover was only used on the Japanese LP/CD issue. Never saw an original Dutch or English press with that cover, only the Jazz Life jacket. Same with Bley's "Blood" as well. Quote
