Frank Hewitt recommendations

I've just read about/discovered Frank Hewitt, a Hard Bop pianist (born in 36) who only recorded for a short time span (late 90's to the early 2000's) before he passed.

His recordings are solely on the Smalls label (correct?) - any recommendations

Anyone see him perform?

I have never seen him perform, unfortunately. I have (have had most since they were released) all of his recordings on Smalls. I enjoy them all, they are well worth your time and money. I am sorry I cannot be of help regarding which one you might want to pick first. If I were to listen to them all back to back this weekend I might have some kind of ranking, I guess, but I know I like them all.

I had an inkling there would be previous threads dedicated to him but finding them can be a challenge
