RussellWHowe Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 So I am going through my collection, here is what I have been listening to #108 The Complete Recordings of The Port of Harlem Jazzmen (1 LP) #109 The Complete Edmond Hall/James P. Johnson/Sidney De Paris/Vic Dickenson Blue Note Sessions (4 CDs) CDs + Booklet only, NO BOX #110 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Sidney Bechet (4 CDs) #179 The Atlantic New Orleans Jazz Sessions (4 CDs) #184 The Complete Peggy Lee and June Christy Capitol Transcription Services (5 CDs) #187 The Complete HRS Sessions (6 CDs) #189 The Complete Verve Recordings of Kid Ory (8 CDs) #192 The Complete Capitol Recordings of the Gene Krupa and Harry James Orchestras (7 CDs) #196 The Complete Capitol Recordings of Woody Herman (6 CDs) #217 The Complete Brunswick & Vocalion Recordings of Louis Prima and Wingy Manone (6CDs) #218 The Complete Roulette Jack Teagarden Sessions (4 CDs) #219 The Complete Brunswick, Parlophone and Vocalion Sessions of Bunny Berigan (7 CDs) I suspect that I will eventually put these up for sale. I can appreciate early jazz in small doses but I prefer the Blue Note recordings of 1950s and 60s. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 Over time I've gotten more interested in the first fifteen years or so of Blue Note than those that follow, but it took me time to get there. Who knows, you may well get around to finding these to be very compelling one of these days! But if not, talk to me about the King Ory. Quote
John Tapscott Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 The Kid Ory is a wonderful set (and no, I'm not selling). But Jazzbo, I'm surprised. I thought you had ALL the Mosaic sets. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 I do have the Ory. I've actually been looking for a set that isn't too expensive as a gift. Quote
paul secor Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 Haven't listened to the Mingus Candid sides in too long a time. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 I need to go through the most recent Goodman and the Crosby again soon, only have spun those sets once since receiving them. Quote
sidewinder Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 Commodore Vol 1 and Nat King Cole Capitol need cracking open once again. Quote
