David Ayers Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I heard the LP one time, haven't retained any impression. Ignored the single CD selection - I don't listen to much Jarrett. But with the emergence of a full 2 CD reissue I thought I might dip back in - anyone heard this? Any thoughts? Quote
sidewinder Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Last time I played the 2LP set those low frequency resonances almost lifted the ceiling ! This is one LP set that contravenes nuclear arms non-proliferation treaties. Edited February 6, 2013 by sidewinder Quote

jazzbo Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I've both the lp and cd editions of the past. Amazing sounds emanating from that pipe organ! As the great great great great great grandson of a celebrated organ builder, I really enjoy the improvised music Jarrett performs. May get the new cd release in time. Quote
JSngry Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I've always enjoyed it, like, a side at a time. How that's gonna work on a CD, is not my problem. Quote
David Ayers Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Posted February 6, 2013 I'd enjoy the LPs probably, but my deck is a little funky so I guess it will be the CDs... Quote
felser Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Understand that there is zero "jazz" content to this release. If Jarrett the classical guy is appealing to you, go for it. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Not much real classical here either imo. More spacey improvisational music. Quote
JSngry Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Spacey improvisational ORGAN music! Quote
felser Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Spacey improvisational PIPE ORGAN music! Quote
JSngry Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Spacey improvisational ECM PIPE ORGAN music! Quote
David Ayers Posted February 7, 2013 Author Report Posted February 7, 2013 Wait! it's on ECM - ? Quote
felser Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 REISSUED Spacey improvisational ECM PIPE ORGAN music! Quote
jazzbo Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 I wish he would record on a Tannenberg! Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) any grunts? he hadn't mastered the grunt yet; he then still thought he was an instantaneous fabulous composer. i love my old grey covered hymns/spheres vinyls and the booming bass. i don't know what sort of music it is, or even it it's any kind of music. it for sure, is sound, echo, and space. the cd with good phones revved up would probably blow my old ears off.
