JSngry Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Recently doing a little research on Yvonne Daniels, found a brief airshot from WSDM, and heard her signing off with this: On the one hand, yea, ok. But on the other, GOOD GOD!!! AMG lists the performer credits http://www.allmusic....1710910/credits (and yeah, Wilton Felder on bass, HELL yeah), but not the arranger. Whoever it is is copping David Van De Pitte, but...I'm ok with that when it works, and this definitely works. Also, what kind of a reissue label is Video Arts, and why cannot I find this on CD anywhere? Is it true that life is not fair after all? Edited January 25, 2013 by JSngry Quote
Joe Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Not sure how accurate this is, but... credits go to Billy Preston (tracks: A4), Clarence McDonald (tracks: A3, A5 to B2, B5), Gene Page (tracks: A1, A2), Jerry Peters (tracks: B3, B4), according to http://www.discogs.com/David-T-Walker-David-T-Walker/release/3342494 Quote
JSngry Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 Gene Page makes perfect sense, actually. Thanks! not sure if the rest of the record looks as appealing as this one cut sounds, to tell the truth. But I'm willing to be surprised. Quote
marcello Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Jim, I believe Video Arts ( actually I'm sure) is a Japanese label. Quote
JSngry Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 Ah, ok, that makes sense. I'll look at CD Japan, just for grins. Thanks!...and it is OOP in Japan. Quote
marcello Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 I've been looking around for you in the meantime. It's out of print everywhere! You can download it from iTunes via his website: http://davidtwalker.com/disco/index.html I saw/heard him once with Lou Rawls. Tasty! Quote
JSngry Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 Tasty, exactly. I mean, he's "just playing the melody" but...to do it with such impeccable (and personal) pitch and inflection, that's a true art all by itself. And thanks for doing some cyber-legwork. Sincerely appreciated, for real. Quote
