Hey guys,

There are only a few hours left to help fund Harrison Bankhead's new CD. $8 gets you a copy of the new CD, to be issued in July. He needs only $200 more to pay the musicians, but the dealine is 5pm EST. Here's the Kickstarter link: http://www.kickstart...recor?ref=email

It looks like they just made it. About 90 minutes left. I am probably going to go ahead and pledge as well. Remember seeing Harrison around Chicago a few times.

Any idea who the other 3 musicians being recorded are? Are they drawn from the sextet he used for Morning Sun Harvest Moon? It would have been nice to know that...

Too late now ... I often wondered: is there any way to get in after the time's up?

Only if the discs are sold through other channels, too, later on, I guess? That's a big drawback of this system for me, as I don't have enough time to monitor all that stuff all the time...

You could always try to email the sponsor and see what they say. Of course sometimes all the info goes away after the project closes. I believe I still have contact info, since I am one of the backers. No rush now, given that the CD should be shipping in the summer...

Never thought of that ... still to me that's a flaw of the system. But then I guess the editions will usually be rather larger than the actual number of backers anyway, so there should be other options to get the albums.

(if they're CD editions, that is, not sure in case of vinyl)

It is a CD.

I believe they will press more than the number pre-ordered and sell through normal channels. But the label is trying to pre-sell enough to make sure they can pay the musicians and cover costs. No system is perfect, that's for sure.

It will be released on the Engine Studios label. Their catalog of CDs and downloads is available on BandCamp (a personal favorite of mine), CDBaby, and most of the majors. Check out some of their other offerings, including titles by Fred Anderson, Kidd Jordan, Warren Smith, Andrew Lamb, and William Hooker with Sabir Mateen: Engine Studios

I just got my copy of Velvet Blue (the CD of the sessions from Kickstarter). Looks promising, and I can report back a bit later.

(I'm very impressed they've already uploaded the track info to somewhere in the cloud, so that my player can figure out the track titles.)
