I sent some Mr. Priester's way. I'm glad to see that he got in touch with the Jazz Foundation of America too. They are a great organization that was established just for this type of situation.

I just contributed a small donation as well. It's critically important that Priester, and other musicians like him who encounter these very difficult situations, that they are assisted so they can live comfortably. Makes me think back to when Horace Silver was very ill, and having difficulties, prior to his nursing home placement.

I sent some also, but only after checking out the website youcaring.com. It appears legitimate. I generally prefer donating to the Jazz Foundation of America. A very worthwhile cause. I wish Mr. Priester the best. (One wonders how a retired professor did not have health insurance, but I assume there are some kind of weird extenuating circumstances?)
