miles65 Posted April 27, 2016 Author Report Posted April 27, 2016 There have been a number of changes on the 'last chance running low page' The Charles Tolliver select that was running low is neither running low nor last chance and still in the catalogue Running low: The Complete Pacific Jazz Joe Pass Quartet Sessions (#207) The Oliver Nelson Verve/Impulse Big Band Sessions (#233) Last Chance: George Wein - Is Alive And Well (MCD-1018) The Complete Clef/Mercury Rec. sidewinder Posted April 27, 2016 Report Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the advisory - I've been meaning to get hold of that Braxton set for some time so pounced while it was still possible. Would have hated to miss that one. Also gone for a copy of that Roy Ayers single on Mighty Quinn to squeeze in within the shipping limit. Edited April 27, 2016 by sidewinder Quote
king ubu Posted April 28, 2016 Report Posted April 28, 2016 Wonder if the Braxton really sold that well (that would be cool - and with all the (justified, I find!) hype around these recordings and their long unavailability, I guess it's possible) or if the deal runs out? Either way, glad to have that box! Quote
sidewinder Posted April 28, 2016 Report Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) Braxton now gone ! Monk 'It Club' vinyl also now in Last Chance Edited April 28, 2016 by sidewinder Quote
Jazzsphere2005 Posted April 29, 2016 Report Posted April 29, 2016 I missed out on a full set of the Braxton - got 6 disc partial set from Mosaic, which was good of them. Bit disappointed but I guess I can't be totally. Maybe able get those missing discs one day. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 29, 2016 Report Posted April 29, 2016 I guess Jazz Messengers still have it in stock in Europe? Quote

Out of curiosity, how did they charge for a partial like that? Did it include the booklet and outer box? Which discs are you missing? Quote
Jazzsphere2005 Posted April 29, 2016 Report Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) Well they reduced the price per disc and then only charged me for the number of discs. Booklet and Outer box included. Just first 2 discs missing I think. Will see when it arrives. Edited April 29, 2016 by Jazzsphere2005 Quote

miles65 Posted May 3, 2016 Author Report Posted May 3, 2016 The Charles Tolliver Big Band select now on last chance. When this one is gone there are only two selects left: The Woody Herman 60's set and the Boogie Woogie set. Â Remco Quote
sidewinder Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 That Tolliver Big Band set is predictably good - for anyone out there still procrastinating on this one...  Quote

There's a harshness that I have trouble getting past. Quote
dougcrates Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 The Complete Clef/Mercury Rec. Of Oscar Peterson Trio is now gone.  I'm disappointed as I was going to order this today.  Quote
miles65 Posted May 26, 2016 Author Report Posted May 26, 2016 Just added on the running low list: Thelonious Monk/John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall LP Novus & Columbia Recordings of Henry Threadgill & Air (#247) Quote
David Ayers Posted May 26, 2016 Report Posted May 26, 2016 Sign of age that what seem to me like "new" sets are expiring right left and center... Quote

IIRC it has totally different mastering to the CD version for which Thelonious Jr. was responsible. Again if IIRC the CD mastering came in for some criticism - I'm completely happy with the LP edition. Quote
