mikeweil Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 I'm crazy. I bid on the Jones/Lewis and won ..... at least I can rest assured I will get a first class copy from a reliable seller, and one of the sets I always regretted that I had to pass while they were around. I'm crazy. Bread and water for the next month. At least after the bottle of wine I am enjoying at the moment is empty. Quote
erwbol Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Congratulations! I bought the Cecil Taylor last year (mint, #0039) and I couldn't be happier. It was shipped in one of the same boxes Mosaic uses for big sets. Quote

Just a few years ago it might have sold for twice as much. Quote
mikeweil Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks, that makes it a bit easier to send payment. Quote
king ubu Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 Congrats Mike, it's a fabulous set! Quote
jcam_44 Posted April 7, 2015 Report Posted April 7, 2015 Has anyone heard the Charles Tolliver Big Band Mosaic selects? I have a copy of Impact and the music is awesome but quality is awful. Quote

ejp626 Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I just ordered the Carter/Bradford Mosaic Select. I was told there are ten left.I'm tempted, but I'm sure I would only listen to it once or twice. It should go to a more worthy household. Quote
LarryCurleyMoe Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I snagged a Carter-Bradford Mosaic 2 weeks ago and am SURE GLAD I DID! Johnathan/Mosaic & Co. issued some crucial sounds in that set! These cats had a vocabulary going and were able to "get around" on their horns. As has been said elsewhere, the duo sessions ARE revealing! Quote
king ubu Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Hadn't noticed yet, but the Ellington Small Group is now running low ... and so is the Quincy Jones. The former essential, the later almost, as well. They also have some copies of some Mighty Quinn discs available in their last chance list ... those are some very nice reissues in my opinoin (but don't ask me any audiophile crap, I got them for the music that was not available elsewhere - Pepper Adams, Don Ellis, Paul Quinichette, Harold Land etc.). Quote
mikeweil Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 I have all of those Mighty Quinn discs and they all sound mighty fine - looks like they were all discs Cuscuna couldn't reissue under the Blue Note heading. Quote
king ubu Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Yes, a mighty fine run of "leftovers"! I have all of them as well, I think ... and a few of their own productions on top of that. Quote
bluesoul Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 The Lionel Hampton set is now on the out-of-print list. Quote
mikeweil Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) So it was a wise decision to get the Hamp first and put the Herman further down the buying list. Edited June 4, 2015 by mikeweil Quote

mikeweil Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Seems like I will get my copy of the Woody Herman Columbia Box - took advantage of the reduced shipping rates and ordered, just received confirmation. Quote
