Soulstation1 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Posted December 27, 2012 Saw Django today with the boys - best QT yet IMHO enrico morricone score!!! That's a bold statement! Quote
BruceH Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 My younger son just saw it with friends. He said it was good and that I should see it. But he also said it wasn't as good as IB. So....we shall see. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Bet it never comes to the theater here. I'll have to wait for DVD release. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Posted December 27, 2012 They are showing the original Django on the BIG screen Quote
tranemonk Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 I'm intrigued. Not a big Tarantino fan but I'll probably go... maybe this weekend. Quote

mikelz777 Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) I don't think it was QT's best but I think it would easily make the top half of his filmography list. I enjoyed it and thought that it was pretty entertaining. Cristoph Waltz is a gem and he was very good in this. He makes me want to seek out whatever project he might be involved in. I had my doubts about Leonardo DiCaprio but he was pretty good in this role as well. Edited December 27, 2012 by mikelz777 Quote
BruceH Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Saw it today. It was a bit better than I expected; damned entertaining in fact, though I also wouldn't say it was my favorite QT. Waltz pretty much owns the film whenever he's on screen, but there were a lot of good performances. One (very minor) cavil----Jonah Hill. Really? Why does freaking Jonah Hill get to be in every other movie that's made these days? Quote
Guy Berger Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 I may see it when it comes out on dvd. But Inglorious Basterds left a really bad taste in my mouth. Quote
mikelz777 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Inglorious Basterds was worth watching for Cristoph Waltz's performance alone. Quote
Guy Berger Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Waltz's performance is the only reason I can think of that IB is worth watching. (OK, Melanie Laurent, but we have Beginners for that. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Report Posted December 29, 2012 I know Spike Lee ain't gonna see Django Quote
BruceH Posted December 29, 2012 Report Posted December 29, 2012 Inglorious Basterds was worth watching for Cristoph Waltz's performance alone. True enough. I got the impression that half the reason for "Django Uchained" was just to give Waltz another big role. Quote
Van Basten II Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Enjoyed it, but I feel QT is pastiching himself a bit too much, this film mirrors quite a lot IB, a few scenes are reminiscent of Basterds , except that the Germans are good guys in this one. If you dig Western Spaghettis you'll have a kick watching it. My two tops QT remain Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction., nonetheless a fun film that does not feel you've been sitting for nearly 3 hours. T.D. Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Waltz's performance is the only reason I can think of that IB is worth watching. (OK, Melanie Laurent, but we have Beginners for that. I'm not a big QT fan, but actually watched IB twice because of Waltz, whose performance I ranked incredibly high. I feel compelled to see Django for the same reason, but will probably wait until it comes out on DVD. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Has anyone seen the spaghetti Western, Django, to which this movie is paying tribute? Quote
RDK Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Thought the first hour of Django was among QT's best; the rest of the film, though, among his worst. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 1, 2013 Author Report Posted January 1, 2013 Has anyone seen the spaghetti Western, Django, to which this movie is paying tribute? The original was in the movie theaters last week Quote
gmonahan Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Has anyone seen the spaghetti Western, Django, to which this movie is paying tribute? I've seen it. There is one scene with Franco Nero in the new film in which QT pays a nice little homage to the original, of which this is decidedly NOT a remake. I liked the movie, not only because of Waltz, who was wonderful, but also DiCaprio, who obviously relishes the part of a nasty villain and plays it to the hilt. gregmo Quote
BillF Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Released here today and I've seen it. Really good entertainment movie. Quote
Shawn Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 I thought it was incredibly entertaining, I'm not a QT fanboy or anything, but I think it is one of his most enjoyable films. Quote
