I'm left handed. I showed some right handed abilities as a child (switch hitting and such) so there was talk of "switching" me. In the end they were more concerned about my ability to do things from both sides and said I had to choose one and stick with it. I went with lefty of course. My octet that toured with Freddie Hubbard with the right subs, had as many as six or seven lefties in the band at one time.....

There are plenty of lefty women (I live with one), it's just the men who make the lists look at other things with women. Or that's my guess.
