.:.impossible Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 My mother, a kindergarten teacher at the time, saw my left-handed tendencies and decided life would be easier if I were right-handed. I still shoot pool lefty, just like I did as a toddler. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Left only when playing hockey. Golf, baseball.....and everything else righty. Don't know why that is. Confused maybe? Quote
miles65 Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 me. At school my mother got hit on the hand with a ruler for writing with her left hand. She's still a leftie. Quote
alankin Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Me too. (Although I throw with my right.) My grandmother was a lefty but was forced to write with her right hand in school in Russia. Quote
Cactus Bob Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Me too! That's a good list. Never knew about Fripp. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Marx was a lefty - Lenin, too. I'm still bewildered as to how Ronald Reagan got on the list. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Me also. Me too. They tried to turn me into a rightie in primary school in the second half of the 60s but never succeeded. The last one to try was my dumbass biology teacher when I was 10-11. No dice ... Quote
GA Russell Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 I believe my avatar is a leftie. Quote
Larry Kart Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Me, too, for the most part. Write lefty, throw lefty, etc., etc., but bat and swing a golf club righty. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 do lefties use a left hand mouse? this one doesn't Quote
Larry Kart Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 do lefties use a left hand mouse? this one doesn't No -- probably because as a lefty I'm more than a bit left-handed as a typist, and I find that typing calls for more precise movements than moving the mouse does. Quote
Quincy Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 do lefties use a left hand mouse? this one doesn't I'm right handed but I mouse lefty, though I still use the buttons set up righty. Is this how Hendrix would have used a mouse? I hardly mouse around anymore thanks to trackpads. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Who else from this board is a lefty? Brice Marden And I suppose not many people on this board are Brice Marden fans - though I'm just going on the assumption, since he's not nearly as well known as his peers in the world of modern painting. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted December 20, 2012 Author Report Posted December 20, 2012 The odd thing about this list, very few womem. Quote
kh1958 Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 do lefties use a left hand mouse? this one doesn't Every time I get a new (Windows) computer at work, I have to figure out how to reverse the mouse buttons again. Quote
BFrank Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Lefty here! I "mouse" and play guitar 'right'. Otherwise - ALL left. The greatest lefty of ALL: Quote
alankin Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Write lefty, mouse righty. (And I own a couple books on Brice Marden.) Quote
Pete C Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Me, in multiple senses of the word. Quote
robertoart Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 Who else from this board is a lefty? Brice Marden And I suppose not many people on this board are Brice Marden fans - though I'm just going on the assumption, since he's not nearly as well known as his peers in the world of modern painting. He's well known enough. Possibly more well known than Agnes Martin. Thank God for that. Although they both might be neck and neck. Maybe Zorn could get involved. Quote
Royal Oak Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 The odd thing about this list, very few womem. My daughter is....the only one in my family. Quote
Larry Kart Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 My mother was a lefty, but in those days (she was born in 1912) the Chicago public schools changed lefties to righties and taught everyone the Palmer method of penmanship. She did have nice handwriting. Quote
