Solar Records is part of the Definitive/Disconforme emporium, which is a DIFFERENT ONE THAN the Fresh Sound Records group.

Have they ever competed, i.e., released the same album?

One of the most interesting item in the catalogue of Solar Records if the 5CD set Red Garland/Paul Chambers/Art Taylor Trio Complete Studio Recordings

all 5 CDs are crammed with all the studio recordings made by that splendid trio for Prestige (plus two quartet sides (with Kenny Burrell).

To round this off: I caught the Bud Shank release on Spotify and I was not pleased with the sound. It was so compressed that I first didn't even think it was the right recording.

Luckily, both albums have now been reissued by Japanese EMI:
