Jim Alfredson Posted March 2, 2013 Author Report Posted March 2, 2013 Just a note that the Kickstarter Bonus Tracks, titled "Re-Dedicated", were released tonight. If you pledged $30 or more to the Kickstarter campaign, you should've received an email with links to my Google Drive to download either hi-res MP3s or FLAC files. I encoded the FLACs myself this time and added all the meta-data. Please, FLAC folks, let me know if it worked. In other news, "Dedicated" is currently #5 on the JazzWeek charts, the highest position ever for an organissimo release! I'm very proud of this one! Quote
mikeweil Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Download completed. I converted the flacs to wav and burned a CD to listen to tomorrow. Thanks again - so much excellent music ... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Wow Wow Wow Randiculous is a great lead off song Maybe alittle Smoking Section-ish It grabs your attention Quote
Larry Kart Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Beautiful recording job, lovely music. I particularly like the knitted-together feel of the band and each piece, the sense that it all "speaks." Jim is just a genius with voicing the Hammond (if "voicing" is the right term for that), Randy is at once slick, soulful, and utterly relaxed, and Ralph is right in there. Food for the soul. Quote
BeBop Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Has anyone seen this in a store somewhere? San Francisco, New York or Seattle would be ideal, since they're all on my near-term itinerary, though I'm passing through Chicago and Denver too. I don't/can't download, and I'm never in once place (predictibly) long enough to mail order. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 4, 2013 Author Report Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks for all the kind words. I'm proud of this one from both a playing and engineering perspective, so I'm glad people are into it. To my knowledge, you either have to order one online or download it. As a Kickstarter backer, you should've received an email with a download link. Email me if you need me to re-send. Quote
BeBop Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks Jim. I did get an e-mail. I just can't download. That's MY problem, not yours. The only computer I have is a work computer and it's totally locked-down. No e-mail, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter... It's a miracle that I can get to the organissimo boards! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 Well, if you know where you're going to be in the next few weeks, I can mail a CD plus a CD copy of the bonus tracks. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 BTW, if anyone uses iTunes and feels like writing a short review and rating the album for us on there, that would be mightily appreciated.https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/dedicated/id595866898 Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Ralph Tope tears it up on Never Can Say Goodbye Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Bottom Line NCSG might be the best song on the new disc Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 12, 2013 Author Report Posted March 12, 2013 Randy didn't want to include it. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 My sister wants a copy just for NCSG.... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Gotcha Back to me sounds kinda headhunter-ish I dig all those weird sounds on Doctor Funk something sounds like a light saber from Star Wars at the 1:40 / 2:45 / 2:58 3:11 / 3:22 / 3:30 / 4:51 / 5:39-6:02 (Killer trippy/funky shiznet) mark on DF. Randy keeps this one groovin' Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 14, 2013 Author Report Posted March 14, 2013 We're still hanging tough on the national JazzWeek charts at #6. Our peak was #5 and we've been in the Top 10 for 6 weeks. The CD is doing really well. Quote
Sundog Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 We're still hanging tough on the national JazzWeek charts at #6. Our peak was #5 and we've been in the Top 10 for 6 weeks. The CD is doing really well. That's really good news! I've been enjoying this one immensely, have played it at least 20 times in the last month. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 James Oscar Did you use a older hammond or your new set-up for the new cd? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 The organ used on both the CD and bonus material is my 1954 Hammond C2 (with TrekII percussion installed) through a late 50's Leslie 21H. Quote
mikeweil Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 I love the percussive attack of the bass notes on some tracks! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 James Oscar Every song dedicated to someone in your life? I think I know who up in the playroom is dedicated to If those are your daughter's voices that's freakin cool Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Yes. I was going to reveal all that in the liner notes but then we decided not to do liner notes. Track 1 should be obvious. It's for the Marsh-man, Randy. Track 2 is dedicated to Janiva Magness and the title refers to a gig I played with her in my hometown, Lansing MI, that was pretty embarrassing for me because of the ineptitude of the local organizers. Track 3 is for my kids. Track 4 is for Joe Gloss. Track 5 is an intro to Track 6. 6 is another one for my kids. That's Stella at the end singing a song she made up about hearts. Track 7 is for a local saxophonist, Wilton Machen, who was funky as they come. We were going to record that song with him but he unfortunately passed away before it could happen. Track 8 is obviously for Don Patterson, one of my favorite organists. Track 9 is dedicated to my memories of Europe from two years ago. I went over there four times in 2011 with Janiva and had the time of my life and met some of the most wonderful people. Track 10 is for Dr. Lonnie Smith. And track 11 is for any musician who's ever had to endure a gig with a drunken bandmate (note: I've never had this problem in organissimo, but I have in other groups). Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks I hope you are gettin some money from Spotify Quote

As an aside- I spend countless hours every winter on my rollers training for the upcoming cycling season and this CD has been my go to music for the last 5 weeks or so. Great album front to back. Thanks for the music! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Spun the disc yesterday Anyone with any new fave tunes from the cd? Quote
BeBop Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 First chance to hear a bit of this: "up in the playroom" on KNTU radio. Nice. Quote
