JazzLover451 Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 I looked for this topic elsewhere but couldn't find it, so I thought I'd start a thread on what Christmas Jazz/Pop/Rock Albums you might recommend this time of year. I just discovered Ramsey Lewis' 1961 Christmas album and am enjoying it quite a bit. Ray Charles' "The Spirit of Christmas" is always spinning, as well. Thoughts? Suggestions? Quote

JSngry Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 (hold out for an original Philles LP, though. anything else, good as it might be, is only going to give you a different story) And one to avoid, even if it only costs you 25 cents (as mine did): Quote
DMP Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 Wynton Marsalis' "Crescent City Christmas." (The only album of his I actually listen to.) Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 One of my favourites - on Plas' own label Carell Music. I THINK you can get this from CDbaby. Includes Tadd Dameron's 'A bebop carol' - first time it was recorded since Tadd's 1946 Savoy session. MG Quote

JETman Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 I really enjoy Matt Wilson's Christmas disc from a couple of years ago, but mainly because it's not a traditional Christmas album. I've always had a soft spot for Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts stuff. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 This is a great one to put on when you've had too much incoming from Wizzard, Wham and Noddy. And death might be your Santa Claus! Indeed! Quote
BFrank Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 I'm sure this is good. It just came out. Available HERE Quote
