xybert
Yeah keen as for the Shipp Duke album, looks like that'll be my first new release of 2015. Shipp's on a roll, the group's on a roll, and the connection with Ellington is mighty tasty. Link to the label's site here: http://web.roguart.com/shop/album/id/85?symfony=92b3498277ab9c3f86c82a62379855de Samples are now available on the Rogue Art website and they sound really, really good (obvious low quality files on the website aside). Quite excited for this. The Shipp disc is excellent. I received it last week and listened to it a few times already. You hear the Ellington, but you also get the Shipp. The combination of the two is captivating. It's been on fairly regular rotation in my house too. Yeah it's excellent. colinmce
In a confusing turn of events, it appears the last 10 CD titles issued by FMP will be (re?)released in the US on February 24. Dusty Groove also lists some of these as Coming Soon. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n_date_2?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A5174%2Ck%3Afmp%2Cp_n_date%3A1249114011&keywords=fmp&ie=UTF8&qid=1423609975&rnid=1249111011 Anyone know what's up here? Likewise the titles from the 2011 box set are available from the usual resellers in the US.
clifford_thornton
yeah, I also like the NotTwo quite a bit. Yes, I'd forgotten about that one, must get it out (gets shelved elsewhere because of the oversized NotTwo sleeves) I'd love to see him live I've seen him live a couple of times and it's been quite rewarding. jeffcrom
Frode Gjerstad Trio + Steve Swell - At Constellation is out a mere 2.5 months after recording (a new land speed record?) Anybody have any idea how to actually buy this CD? I really enjoyed hearing this group in Columbia, SC, and would like to buy a copy, but I can't find it anywhere. corto maltese
"Conceits" is a fine album, as is the slightly later "News from the sheds" (already reissued on Emanem). Once again, I'll have to buy the CD for the extra music.
