CraigP
Just ordered two great-looking cross-pollinated releases: Aquarius by Nicole Mitchell on Delmark and Unknown Known by Josh Abrams on Rogue Art. Both feature the core trio of Abrams, Adasiewicz, and Frank Rosaly with Mitchell and David Boykin respectively. I just got Unknown Known and have played it through once. My first impression is favorable. I also liked Started by the Gabriela Friedli Trio on Intakt. Next on my pile: the new Ingrid Laubrock Anti House and As The Sea by Samuel Blaser. mjazzg
I've had the Mitchell for a couple of days and I'm thoroughly enjoying it however it's almost designed for me as flute/vibes is a line up that would be close to the top of my list and Mitchell and Adasiewicz top of each instrumnets' 'must hear' players. There's some strong writing on the album and the playing's as good as you'd expect. I doubt you'll be disappointed The Rogue Art's 'to buy' so will be interested to hear your views on that one Edited March 2, 2013 by mjazzg

Stefan Wood
Stumbled across Samuel Blaser's "As the Sea" on Hatology, with Marc Ducret, Banz Oester, and Gerald Cleaver. Very nice! Trombone/guitar/double bass/drums, an intriguing combo. Edited March 2, 2013 by Stefan Wood

clifford_thornton
I need to give this one a spin. I liked the preceding disc by this quartet a lot (even tho usually not a Ducret nut).

colinmce
I'm excited to hear the new Ches Smith's These Arches on Clean Feed. I dug the date on Skirl, and more time playing together + the addition of Tim Berne sounds like success to me.
Д.Д.
Everybody here is a fan of solo bass guitar, right? Daniele Camarda, a phenomenal bassist, recently released a new digital-only album: http://www.danielecamarda.net/ . I have his previous ones, both are excellent. I skimmed through the samples, this one sounds more flamenco-show-offish than his two (excellent) previous ones, but still is quite good. Hos older album with alto-sax monster Gianni Gebbia can be heard in full here: https://soundcloud.com/danielecamarda

Scott Dolan
Just reading through the names on this thread reminds me just how long it's been since I was in the Avant Garde loop. Just lost my ear for it... It is nice to see that the genre is still going strong, though. Nothing quite like it to open the ears and the mind.
