Sorry, I was referring to my Belgian classical purchase.

I checked (my most likely suspects: DMG, Squidco, DG and Forced Exposure) yesterday and did not find any US dealers stocking the Ahmed box. Although Dusty Groove showed an upcoming 2-LP set on Astral Spirits (iirc) that might be a subset of the box.

The Astral Spirits is not a subset. Different concert, from Glasgow.

I bought my copy from Seymour Wright in person the other day and had a very pleasant short chat with him. He was very pleased with how both the box set and the AS double LP have come out.

I haven't listened to the LP release yet.

yes! heard some of this out in LA in 2023 at the Milford exhibition and it is fantastic.

so we'll have Brötzmann/Parker/Graves, Graves/Glover/Doyle, and Gayle/Parker/Graves. I hope Graves/Tanaka/Bailey comes soon.

Thanks for this tip. My copy just arrived. What a group. Pat Thomas is a master..but then the whole thing swings and heaves. It's like being hit by a heavy object and yet enjoying the experience.

You are not kidding. It really is , Sofia’s voice is made from angels’ tears and Alex and his piano(s?) meld just beautifully. I’d buy a second volume in a heartbeat.

Just wanted to second all the [Ahmed] hype, it's truly gorgeous music. It swings and hits you and yet it remains quite experimental in nature.

Bought the digital download which is quite reasonably priced (you are getting 5 cds's worth of music in FLAC format so, with a decent DAC, you get the same experience you'd have with the box set; ok, minus the physical pleasure of owning it).

Oto posted that they had found 5 new sets yesterday so it might be worth asking them to send one of them as a replacement?

Just got an email back from them. The set was returned to them and they are mailing it out to me again. Good customer service!

That's good to hear. My interactions with them have always been positive from a customer service perspective. Here's hoping it makes it to you soon.
