Jazztropic Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Saw it for sale Song for a New Man anybody heard it?Please give opinions. Thanks Quote
kh1958 Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Yes, I have it. I like it. Mr. Newman plays tenor (with a beautiful tone) on all tracks except the title track (a flute track, first recorded on Newmanism). The band is a fine quartet or quintet, with Curtis Fuller on trombone on the majority of tracks, John Hicks on piano and Jimmy Cobb on drums. (The bassist escapes me at the moment.) Quote
sheldonm Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 I like it alot. I saw Fathead a few weeks ago and he played a couple tunes from it. I bought a disc from him at the show prior to it being released and have only played it a couple of times to date, but I like it very much. Quote
