Will spend next week and the last week of November in Luxembourg and wonder if anyone knows of any cool places to hang, listen to some music, have drinks, whatever ... and also if anyone knows of any rekkid stores with dusty old vinyl to flip through or some of those crappy silvery thingies, new or used ... finally, is anyone actually based there and would care for an afterwork drink? (Claude, are you still around? Still based in Luxembourg? Is it true that all shops close at 6:30 p.m.?)

Will be there from late on Sunday until Friday afternoon ... only planned/booked activity so far is Grigory Sokolov at the Luxembourg Philharmonic on Monday, November 26.

On the way up, tomorrow, I'll go and hear Yusef Lateef and Archie Shepp (with Mulgrew Miller, Reggie Workman and Hamid Drake) in Ludwigshafen ... and on Monday Nov. 26, I'll be at the Philharmonie Luxembourg, listening to Grigory Sokolov (link)

Not really relevant, I know, but it was Radio Luxembourg that first brought Coltrane and Ornette to my ears early in 1959 on a show called "Jamboree Jazz Time". :excited:

I was there most recently in August. Unfortunately all work and no play. Still a pleasant place to have a cup of coffee and pretend to be wealthy.

Claude doesn't visit this board much anymore, if at all. If you want to contact him you'd better send him a PM over at the Hoffman board, where he is a regular poster under the same handle.

Can't do that as I'm not even registered there, never cared to get a feel for that place, but thanks anyway, Hans!

Alternatively, you could send him a PM here; he'll probably be notified by e-mail, so he might respond.

Ah, crap, that's on Nov 29th and I'll only get back from Lux on Nov 39th!

Too bad, Basel would definitely have been an option!

Btw, I was at that Black Records - a nice shop, but contrary to most record shops it was rather ... empty and neat, not overflowing with stuff. There's a CD only shop next to it, but as everything closes down so darn early, we had no time to check it out. Maybe next time (week after this one).
