alocispepraluger102 Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) LINK ""Weekend after weekend, we'd drive all over the Midwest for bouts in a broken-down car," he said. "We'd pile six or eight kids into one cheap motel room, go to McDonald's and split a few hamburgers. I was always big on our boxers looking good and sharp. I'd wash our uniforms in the sink and dry them on the hood of the car. Coming back from Chicago or Indianapolis, everyone would be sleeping. The next day, I was back to work at the electric company."" Edited October 26, 2012 by alocispepraluger102 Quote
CJ Shearn Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 One of the greatest trainers ever. Never been a huge fan of the Klitschko brothers style, but Emmanuel did such great work with them. I think it's a shame that the fighter he really invested time in was Andy Lee, who is not anywhere near the level Steward had hoped, I think the TKO loss to Chavez Jr. proved it. Quote
T.D. Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 RIP. I don't follow boxing any more, but was a big fan back in the Hearns days (lived in MI when he was just starting out). Always had the highest respect for Steward. Quote
Cali Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 RIP Emanuel. You were a beautiful spirit in a sometimes ugly profession. There will never be another like you. Thank you. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Depressing. I didn't even know he was ill. As for boxing, this is a major loss to a sport that can't afford to lose any of the good guys. Quote
