bertrand Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 I am getting mixed information from discographies and Amazon reviews. On the one hand, some say that Booker is on 4 tracks (including the two CD bonus tracks). On the other hand, I thought a friend of mine who bought it years ago said Booker is only on one track. The sound clips only have him on 'Searchlight', but they are only 30-second clips. Can anyone who has this set me straight? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 The horns only play on tracks 3, 4, 7 and 8. Quote
Simon8 Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Like Chuck said, except that the sole horn on track 7 is Jaki on alto. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Track 6 is the one with Jaki on alto. Richard Williams and Booker play on 7. Quote
Simon8 Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Oh yes, that's right. Mea culpa ! Quote
jazztrain Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 How ironic. I picked up a used copy of this sometime in the last few months and listened to it yesterday and today for the first time. Chuck already answered the questions Oh yes, that's right. Mea culpa ! Quote
David Gitin Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Jaki told me that the horns were a surprise to him on that date. The trio showed up for the session and Jaki was told to use the horns (who didn't know his compositions). Quote

bertrand Posted October 24, 2012 Author Report Posted October 24, 2012 What was really daft was to not offer to pay for rehearsal time. Bertrand. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Hey, it was Prestige! If they had paid for rehearsal time they would have been Blue Note! Quote
