medjuck Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Maybe you guys form Austin know about them. I was unfamiliar with them when I saw them a couple of nights ago. Great young bluesy band. Lewis on vocals and guitar with bass, drum, tenor sax, baritone sax and trumpet. Best act I saw in a month of a lot of concerts including Dr. John with the Blind Boys, The Black Keys and David Byrne with St.Vincent. All of whom I liked but these guys were the surprise. Quote
HolyStitt Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 I like their LPs on Lost Highway (Tell 'Em What Your Name Is! & Scandalous) as well. I have seen them headline and warm up for Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings as well. I love that their set lists seem to change for their shows and they pull out interesting covers, with Surfin Bird by the Trash Man pulled out for one of the shows as a tribute to Trash Man being from the area. robertoart Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Letterman! I guess if you've ever wondered what James Brown would sound like covering Exile On Main Street this would be it. Pretty good stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTT-pxOUF08 Quote
