Kyo Posted January 7, 2013 Report Posted January 7, 2013 Got the Timmons two-fer from amazon.de today, it was not sealed - not that I care. Quote
romualdo Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 They will most likely not be sealed - Universal CDs are most often not sealed over here (at least the Impuse 2-on-1 weren't, if I'm right ... and those jewel-case-packed "Verve Originals" weren't either, I think). Link: http://www.amazon.de...ywords=jazzplus I had a look at the booklet of the Hammond Smith (not sealed!) at a store today and indeed they do look rather nice. I've ordered a bunch in that 3 for 15€ sales but am still waiting for them to be delivered. The Hawkins really should have been made a 2CD set as the bonus material there is, in my humble opinion, rather substantial, and goes far beyond just another take thrown in length-wise, too. Fresh Sound have recently released the full 2CD version (all 13 titles) http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/alive_at_the_village_gate_1962_2_lps_on_2_cds_+_bonus_tracks-cd-5805.html Quote
king ubu Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks, hadn't been aware (but as it's from 1962, it can't be out for too long). Will likely get this one, eventually ... Quote
Kyo Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 They also did a nice complete edition of Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster with several bonus tracks that Universal doesn't bother to include. I really, really don't get what these big labels are doing sometimes. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 Seems like Universal reissue compilers are allergic towards discographies ... Quote
