AllenLowe Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) actually, according to Paul Bley (and this is in the Konitz book that Larry Kart worked on) the problem was women who kept buying him Chinese food. Edited October 16, 2012 by AllenLowe Quote

At the Confucius Restaurant? I didn't work on that book, only was one of the people interviewed for it. Quote

alocispepraluger102 Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) lennie tristano -manhattan studio (in case some haven't seen this) Edited May 16, 2013 by alocispepraluger102 Quote
Late Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Tristano is the necessary thread that puts together musical awareness. The "Manhattan Studio" doc is essential viewing. Quote
Late Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Also wanted to say that I first heard of Liz Gorrill as a result of watching the Tristano "Manhattan Studio" documentary. Enthusiastically recommended. Gorrill takes Tristano even further out, to the point that the music no longer clearly, or directly, references Tristano. A hidden gem of a piano player. Quote
