Daniel A Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 ...a British study from 2001 indicates that every 20th dog or cat that receives treatment at veterinaries, the injuries are not a result of a direct accident, but the animal has been inflicted the injury as a result of a sexual assault. According to the Swedish paper Expressen, if the same estimate can be used in Sweden that will indicate that 200 to 300 dogs and cats every year are injured as a result of sexual assaults. I wouldn't trust the paper Expressen on any subject. However, if "the same estimate" can be applied on any country, the US could have something to worry about too, considering the number of pets... While not criminalized per se, sex with an animal would - if proven - probably render punishment under the Swedish Animal Protection Act anyway. Quote
tonym Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Now I don't want this to offend any stateside members, but in the UK a couple of years ago we had a documentary broadcast about one group of people living in the US who were keen on sleeping with, marrying and having sex with their animals --- usually donkeys and horses. From what i remember it was legal in one state --- Nebraska I think, to marry. Therefore, animal owners keen on making an honest pony out of their beast would move to this area. No it wasn't shown on April 1st!!! One guy confessed to rolling over in the middle of the night to turn to his pet, and said words to the effect " I knew it was more than sex, I loved her".... Don't throw me off the board. Quote
Chrome Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 “We have seen an increase since 1999 when child pornography became illegal,” said Johan Beck-Friis. Child pornography was legal in Sweden until 1999?!?! Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Hey, this is a well-rounded board, Patricia! We hit all the major issues. The reading material on the toilet thread made a big splash as well! Thank you rockefeller center and Jazzmoose. Yes. All the major issues. No subject undiscussed. Love this board!!! This is making me sentimental about some of my favorite threads. Think I'll revisit that cannibalism link... Quote
Daniel A Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Child pornography was legal in Sweden until 1999?!?! Producing such pornography was illegal before. In 1999 possesion of a piece of child pornography became illegal too. The Swedish constitution's regulations about the freedom of speech and freedom of press prevented laws criminalizing possesion of any books, pictures, etc., but in 1999 the constitution was changed to allow new legislation in this area. I believe possesion of child pornography was criminalized in 1990 in the US. Quote
Chrome Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Just an FYI, Daniel, I don't mean to seem as if I'm picking on Swedes with this and the anti-Semitism post on the other thread. Quote
