Blue Train Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 The most recorded Jazz standard of all time was first recorded on October 9, 1930. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixNwG18WIQ8 Outside of the usual subjects, which are your favorite covers? Quote
Larry Kart Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 I would have thought that the most recorded jazz standard of all time was "I Got Rhythm." As for great recordings of "Body and Soul," aside from Hawkins', two that come to mind are the Chu Berry-Roy Eldridge version and Serge Chaloff's. Quote
colinmce Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 That's bizarre-- I was just listening to an episode of On Point on the Savory Collection and this fact was just mentioned. A great modern-day version is Jason Moran's gorgeous solo piano rendition. Quote
Blue Train Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 I would have thought that the most recorded jazz standard of all time was "I Got Rhythm." Most likely if you add in all the songs based on changes, but according to this it's only #73. http://www.jazzstandards.com/compositions/index.htm Quote
