colinmce Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) $20 shipped in the US. This is the handsome trifold tin box in near mint condition. Edited October 8, 2012 by colinmce Quote
colinmce Posted October 5, 2012 Author Report Posted October 5, 2012 Just scored the 10xCD complete box, otherwise I certainly would hold onto this. It has some of my favorite Bird. Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) For me it was the other way 'round. When I got the master takes box, I sold the big one; it was too much for me Edited October 6, 2012 by J.A.W. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Similar feelings to Hans. Though the later masterings are better to my ears I have not been able to cut loose of the big box yet. I have kept individual cds covering the string sessions, Bird and Diz and the (mostly) quartets. Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 I agree, the Master Takes box has better mastering. Quote
felser Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 I agree, the Master Takes box has better mastering. Yes it does. I also passed along the big box when I got the Master Takes box. Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Someone should grab this. Great set at a great price. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Someone should grab this. Great set at a great price. No kidding. If you're like me who didn't come around to Parker early on, you can't do wrong at this price! Quote
mr jazz Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 If I have Parker with Strings do I need this as well? Quote
jazzbo Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 If you don't have any other Parker on Verve and enjoy Strings, yes. Quote
.:.impossible Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 I'll take it if it isn't already spoken for! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 I don't think I've heard many alternate takes of Bird during the Verve period. Do his solos vary as much from take to take as they do on the Savoy/Dial material? Quote
colinmce Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 The set is sold. Thanks for looking. Quote

colinmce Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 The Talking Jazz imbroglio reminded me to bump this thread. I received prompt payment from disaac on this item, but never got his address. I've sent several PMs with no reply so I hope I can get his attention this way. Quote
samnat Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 If you don't complete the deal, I am interested in buying the set. PM coming. Thanks. Quote
J.A.W. Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) The Talking Jazz imbroglio reminded me to bump this thread. I received prompt payment from disaac on this item, but never got his address. I've sent several PMs with no reply so I hope I can get his attention this way. I've done business with disaac without problems. However, communication with him can be difficult, as he doesn't visit the board frequently. If he paid through PayPal, you could try and contact him via his PayPal e-mail address. Edited December 13, 2012 by J.A.W. Quote
colinmce Posted December 13, 2012 Author Report Posted December 13, 2012 I got a reply, so all is well. Apologies, samnat. Quote
