Perry is on quite a few SteepleChase releases under his own name and with Harold Danko among others. I think he also often performs with Maria Schneider's archestra. Great saxophonist whose name is not mentioned very often.

Fine work with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the John Fedchock New York Big Band, too.

Rich Perry is an outstanding player. I'll second relyles' recommendations, specifically a couple Steeplechase sides he did under Harold Danko's name with Dick Oatts- they're called "Oatts and Perry" and "Oatts and Perry II". Great music!

I'm familar as well with his work on Fedchock's Big Band releases on the Reservoir label. They're definitely worth checking out. :tup

I first heard Rich in the early 80s at the Vanguard, playing with Thad and Mel.

He was in Texas this past week for artist-in residence obligations (along with Alex Sipiagin and drummer Donald Edwards. They were in town thanks to the U.N.T. jazz department.

Last week they played as part of a jazz series at Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas. My quintet had the fortune to open for the group they played in (along with UNT profs pianist Stefan Karlson and bassist Lynn Seaton).

They sounded great as would be expected!
