king ubu Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 Got my paper version from amazon a couple of weeks ago but had no time yet ... Quote
sidewinder Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 A rather hefty price tag ... I managed to thumb through a copy at 'Ray's' today but at £45 it was a bit out of my league (bought the Mwandishi book instead). It looks fabulous though - and for $50 I would say definitely worth it. Lots of good work obviously gone into this 'labour of love'. Quote
king ubu Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Well, I paid 36€ for it, all included - which is fine for a hardcover book of such size! But it seems the prices have gone up (I got mine from amazon.fr, which lists it at 51€ now) and/or the book went out of stock too. Best price seems to be 43€ at amazon.de but it's out of stock there, so ... anyway, glad to have a hardcopy of it, even more so since the kindle edition costs a whopping 32€ as well! (Now that IS crazy in my book!) Quote
mikeweil Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 ... anyway, glad to have a hardcopy of it, even more so since the kindle edition costs a whopping 32€ as well! (Now that IS crazy in my book!) It is. Some publishers make e-books way cheaper than printed editions, some - like that of the Dameron book - make them only a few dollars cheaper. Seems like they make buyers of e-books pay for the printing costs just as well, which is okay in my view. But since my shelves are overloaded in the new flat we are glad for every item not needing shelf space. Quote
Clunky Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I'm enjoying it . However as a non musician I'm lost with some of the analysis of the music. Given it's relatively low page count, it is without a doubt the most expensive book I've bought. - Quote
sidewinder Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Guess I should have bought the copy in Foyles and used the 10% student discount.. Quote
bertrand Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Got it for $40 with a Barnes And Noble Coupon. A very good first impression. I am glad that he discusses the copyright deposits including the unrecorded tunes. I feel better knowing that the 20 years I spent on this project were not in vain. Bertrand. Quote
