alocispepraluger102 Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) link "Freddie Hubbard, a legendary trumpeter and 2006 NEA Jazz Master came to us for help in 2002. Frederick Dwayne Hubbard, born April 7th, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was widely regarded as the most gifted jazz trumpeter of the post-bebop '60s and '70s. An exceptionally talented virtuoso performer, Hubbard's rich full tone is never lost, even when he plays dazzlingly fast passages. As one of the greatest hard bop trumpeters of our time. He is perhaps one of the greatest technical trumpet players ever to play in the jazz idiom and arguably the most influential. Freddie moved to New York at the age of 20 and quickly astonished fans and critics alike with the depth and maturity of his playing. He worked with veteran jazz artists Philly Joe Jones, Sonny Rollins, Slide Hampton, J.J. Johnson , Eric Dolphy, and Quincy Jones with whom he toured Europe. He was barely 22 when he recorded "Open Sesame," his solo debut for Blue Note Records (on the recommendation of Miles Davis)." Edited September 17, 2012 by alocispepraluger102 Quote
Christiern Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 The JFA is not a secret organization—it has been around for several years and it has helped many jazz people in need. What is the point here? Why are you posting this, and why have you singled out Freddie Hubbard? Six thousand five hundred and fifty-five posts, most of them having nothing to do with the subject at hand! Are you trying to compete with Jim? Quote
fasstrack Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 I can personally attest to the good works of the JFA. They've helped countless times, w/providing medical assistance, security deposits for housing, and most recently got me on a plane home Fla. where my bro. was sick. Dr. Frank Forte and social worker Alisa Hafkin are angels. I'm proud to have a song, co-written w/another client, the late Jimmy Norman (You're my Foundation) in tribute on their public service video. As far as the latest in the Chris Albertson sour milk hit parade, bo what I do, Stomp Off and ignore him. He has his own blog yet a seemingly endless need for attention here-and the negative ilk will do just fine. I'll make one final statement before hitting ignore. Chris, you're a bitter man and a bore. Get over yourself. Quote
Christiern Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 What's bitter about lauding JFA for the good work they do? I have even worked with them in the past. I was just wonder why 102 created the thread and highlighted only Freddie Hubbard. If I bore you, please do stomp off and put me on "ignore," which I thought you had done. Quote
