bertrand Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 (edited) The René Thomas discography online has the session below. It seems to have been on CD at some point. Is Philology a legit label? Can this CD still be found? Is Mengelberg really on bass? Thanks, Bertrand. brownie Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 This was released as a Musica Jazz CD that was distributed with the March 1992 issue of the Italian magazine. Never ran into it! No doubt about its legitimacy. Konitz recorded dozens of sessions for Philology so there must have been an agreement about it. Quote
king ubu Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 And Misha was lacking that night so he had to play bass? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 (edited) I have the cd and only Round Midnight (5:10) and All the Things You Are (9:20) are on the disc. Misha plays piano and Rob Langereis is the bassist. Edited September 4, 2012 by Chuck Nessa Quote
king ubu Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 That makes more sense! (As an explanation: "Mangel" means - among other things - "lack" in German.) Quote
brownie Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 This was released as a Musica Jazz CD that was distributed with the March 1992 issue of the Italian magazine. Never ran into it! How wrong I was this morning (and not fully awake!). A thorough search of my Konitz CDs revealed I had a copy of the CD. Great music, some of it in soso sound! Quote
bertrand Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 I see now that the Rene Thomas discography is saying that only 2 tracks are on the CD but the formatting problem makes it confusing. Looks like I will never be able to buy this - except weren't there some Joe Henderson tracks from this magazine that you could get as MP3s from Amazon? I will check. Bertrand. Quote
king ubu Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 The same two that are likely in circulation among collectors ... have never seen the entire four track date! Quote
