Lots of duplication with previously issued Fresh Sound Records "Dodo's Bounce" (FSCD1019) and Lonehill Jazz "Complete Studio Recordings" (LHJ10119). I have not done a complete audit- I hope to find some unique cuts. Very nice booklet. Same here Dan, looks like I've already got over 80% of the material - I think I'll still get it though due to the likely improved SQ Quote
medjuck Posted December 16, 2018 Report Posted December 16, 2018 I've just been listening to some Dodo on some AFRS Jubilee shows. Does anyone know if that's the source for some of these dates. (I expect the Just Jazz All Stars night be.) Quote
Stonewall15 Posted December 16, 2018 Report Posted December 16, 2018 For sure the last 2 cuts on disc 2 are unique. They are from a Lighthouse Allstars session. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 My copy arrived today. Safely packaged (thanks!!), and the postal services did their job. Though i have almost all the Atomics and all the Downbeats it's still a welcome addition and I am looking forward to listening to it. This is new material as well, as far as I can see. Quote
bertrand Posted March 12, 2019 Report Posted March 12, 2019 I need a favor from anyone who got this CD. Does the booklet give any sort of contact info for Uptown/David Sunenblick? Thanks! Bertrand. Quote

Closest I can give you is Tommy of Tommy's jazz. tommy@tommysjazz.com tommysjazz@gmail.com He told me that he spoke with the good doctor on a weekly basis and I think he keeps up contact with David. bertrand Posted March 12, 2019 Report Posted March 12, 2019 Oh, that might be a better approach anyway. Thanks! Quote
jazzmusicdepot Posted May 12, 2019 Report Posted May 12, 2019 Work has begun on a new release. Waiting for more information. Not even sure of the artist yet. Quote

Misterioso Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Is this label still alive? I certainly hope so but I can't load their homepage (uptownrecords.net). Quote
EKE BBB Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 Bob Sunenblick passed away on February 17, 2018. No idea if the label is still running. Quote
Brad Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 A prior post in 2018 said that Dr. Sunenblick’s son was trying to finish up projects his father started. Whether those come to fruition is another question. Quote
Niko Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 Some releases still came out after that, e.g. the Dodo Marmarosa double CD... but I guess there'll be a limit to how many projects can and will be completed Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 Tom of Tommy's Jazz has contact with the son. Maybe he'll post a response if he's able. Quote
jazzmusicdepot Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 I sent an e-mail after our conversation yesterday. See what comes of it. Quote
mjzee Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 I have no inside info. There are a few titles I've been watching on Amazon. One is arriving tomorrow (Jeri Southern). The titles have gone in and out of stock, but they do seem to be regularly restocked. Jazz Messengers sent a promotional email on April 2 that said the following; perhaps they know something we don't? RECOMMENDED!! With the passing of Bob Sunenblick in 2018, the jazz world lost one of the best ‘detectives’ it had. Mr. Sunenblick catalogue in Uptown Records contains a vast array of rare treasures by some of the giants of the music as well as some of the more unsung heroes. It is truly a collector’s heaven and with the passing of time, these will become harder and harder to find!!! Grab them now!! Quote
Brad Posted May 5, 2020 Report Posted May 5, 2020 Sounds like Chuck’s advice when Concord bought Fantasy. Quote
AaronG Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 Anyone have a recommendation on where to get Uptown releases (besides Amazon)? Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 2 hours ago, AaronG said: Anyone have a recommendation on where to get Uptown releases (besides Amazon)? tommysjazz@gmail.com He was friends with the guy who ran the label and remains friends with the son who may or may not issue more. Can't say what his fill rate would be but if anyone can find copies its Tom. Quote
