Gang,

Can anyone tell what the original issue of this recording was called? Assume it's "Pre-Bird" but have seen enough other references that I want to be sure. Thanks.

Original cover:

Limelight cover (with that deluxe Limelight packaging inside and out):

Oddly enough, the Trip reissue, which as all things Trip was budget all the way), reissued the album as if the Limelight was the original:

Go figure.

I started with the Trip in my collection, eventually added a Limelight, and finally got a Mercury. Mingus revisited indeed! :g

That's the album that made me realize that "Take The A Train" was based on "Exactly Like You" (more or less). Okay, okay, I was young and stupid. But I'm not young any longer...

Isn't "I was young and stupid" the opening line of the lyric on "Duke Ellington's Sound of Love."

No, wait, it's "I was young and carefree."

The original European edition (on Dutch Mercury) had this cover

that's how I heard the music first!

I'm sure Mingus did not approve the use of his first name's spelling

Looks like all of the issues with his name on the cover refer to him as Charlie.
