this list has been circulating for years.

olympic bloopers

"9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them. .......Oh my God, what have I just said?""

I suspect that #9's an urban legend at best, more likely an outright hoax.

There's been a similar item re. Arnold Palmer, that I personally recall circulating for well over 40 years! Allegedly from the Johnny Carson Tonight Show. Johnny was supposed to have follwed up with* "Oh, does that make his putter stand up?"

* I also doubt the veracity of this hoary anecdote...

Not quite a blooper, but there was the announcer this year who said something to the effect of, "the winner of this race will be decided by whoever runs the fastest."

this applies to most sportscasts. i almost always watch them with no sound or captions.

now, if vin scully or a precious few others are on, that's a different matter.

espn sports news, pregames, and commentary i refuse to watch.

My Spanish isn't good enough to catch the blooper in the video... Anybody want to tell me...?

Looked for an English translation online and found this:

"Only Michael Phelps, when competing in the 1972 Munich Olympics, over there in Hitler's Germany, won as many medals. Adolf Hitler, who presided over these 1972 Olympics (in a chauvinistic snit fit, it appears), refused to personally award the medals to Michael Phelps."
