Man with the Golden Arm Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 I've been curious about the players on the "jazz" sides of this soundtrack. It is listed as such: Personnel: Herbie Hancock (piano); Jim Hall (guitar); Joe Newman, Freddie Hubbard (trumpet); Phil Woods (alto saxophone); Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone); Paul Griffin (organ); Ron Carter (bass); Jack DeJohnette (drums)- But I recall some talk of this being done with some British players at the time, as well? Can someone set me straight on this?? Thanks Quote
brownie Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Don Rendell and Gordon Beck are among the British musicians listed as having taken part in the soundtrack music. Not to speak of The Yardbirds... Quote
rockefeller center Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 According to the liner notes, Hancock recorded this music in London with British musicians, then scrapped it and rerecorded everything in New York with the musicians here. http://home.t-online.de/home/stamil/hhdisco.htm Quote
