Tomasz Szukalski

The Polish saxophone player and composer Tomasz Szukalski died. He worked with musicians as Jan Wróblewski and Zbigniew Namysłowski. You could herar him on the ECM albums Balladyna of Tomasz Stańko (1975) und Rodina of Edward Vesala.

Sad news. I only know him from the Stanko but that's enough to show he'll be missed

Revisiting this thread as I've been listening to Szukalski with Stanko over the weekend. He's a real powerhouse on these albums

Can anyone recommend anything by him other than with Stanko?

Thanks, that's the only other one I own, I should have mentioned that. I agree it's a good one.

He also appears on a couple of Vesala ECMs that I have.

Szukalski plays only on one track on this album (and on soprano, not tenor), but it's an excellent work overall:

Was checking out Namyslowski discography and learned that the man died in 2022. He was a good musician.
