LF: Paul Bley Trio - "Blood" (Fontana, 1966)

Hello !

I'm looking for Paul Bley's "Blood" on CD (with Mark Levinson & Barry Altschul), released by Fontana in 1966, and reissued on CD in 1990 (Fontana #PHCE-1006) - not to be confounded with the live set "Blood: Paul Bley in Haarlem".

Here's the tracklist and the cover below . Let me know !

Great record. Sometimes those Japanese Fontana CDs are harder to find than the vinyl! Looks like it pops up on eBay and Discogs from time to time, so you should be able to score one eventually.

I hope so ! I recently saw one on ebay but missed my chance. The Bley-Levinson-Altschul trio is great on « Ramblin’» ; I expect « Blood » to be as memorable.

I have been looking for this CD for a long time as well. Have not wanted to pay a ransom to purchase on Ebay. I will have to settle for CD Rom version that a friend burned for me.

That Fontana 'Blood' LP uses the same Marta Roling drawing that adorned the cover of the Debut LP 'Touching' I have

Also have that Bley original LP

This is the Dutch/UK pressing of the Fontana Blood. I used to have a somewhat worn copy but switched to a minty Japanese one with the Roling jacket.

Sorry, have trouble posting a pic, but at least part of Blood is being reissued by Ezzthetics by Hat Hut.

I think that version is the long (18:40) live one from Haarlem - different LP/CD release as noted above ("Live In Haarlem - Blood" as opposed to just "Blood")

Also note that the original Dutch LP release in 1966 did not sport a Marte Roling cover. I think that only started with the Japanese reissue LP in 1984

Still looking for this on compact disc. Downtown Music Gallery's CDR's weren't so bad after all ... (though the mysterious Japanese edition would probably be better).

I finally found the Japanese CD through Dusty Groove after having it on my "notify" section for years. It is very hard to find.
