robertoart Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 Number One! Number one indeed! On with the 200m. In his trackside after race interview, Usain announced to Australia on National TV that he will be visiting downunder in September for a 'holiday'. He's obviously not interested in slipping into the country 'incognito' and getting away from it all for a few days Quote
sidewinder Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 On with the 200m. Looking forward to it ! Quote
Quincy Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 Number One! He's scored some big points in the US for stopping an interview in deference to the US anthem being played while Richards-Ross was on the medal stand. Quote

sidewinder Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Am still gutted by the result in the football (soccer) game, what an heartbreak ... That game was amazing. To have got that goal right at the very last minute was incredibly fortunate for the US. Great effort by the Canadian ladies ! Quote
kinuta Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 The American Ladies Football team have their work cut out meeting Japan in the final. Despite their small physique and nerdy look the World Cup winners are very very tough and determined. I know which team I'll be cheering for. It's also one in the eye for the preening, full of itself men's team. Quote

Dave James Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Isn't the World Cup enough soccer? It is for me With the exception of three "over age" players, the men's game in the Olympics is limited to players under the age of 23. That differentiates it quite a bit from the World Cup. On the lady's side, there are no such restrictions, so that does make it a little redundant. Having said that, the WNT's game with Canada yesterday will, at least for me, be the defining "moment" of the 2012 games. Talk about leaving everything on the field. Incredible efforts from both sides and a great win for the U.S. If you missed it, you missed something pretty special. Bring on the Japanese. Retribution is going to be a bitch. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Shock defeat of Victoria Pendleton in the final of the women's sprint, with her arch-rival Anna Meares of Australia taking the gold. She now retires ! Bring on Sir Chris.. Edited August 7, 2012 by sidewinder Quote

robertoart Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) 100m hurdles final imminent. All Australia is anticipating a Gold medal from Sally Pearson. Australian commentator even suggested parents go and wake their kids up so they don't miss this Nation Building moment. Obviously this is a reaction to our shocking performance at these games. Sports types here are even claiming Primary schools need to take more responsibility to direct children towards sporting activity so as to help rectify this calamitous situation. Unbelievable. Anyway USA reigning Olympic champion Dawn Harper has plans to thwart the Nation Builders hopes. Edited August 7, 2012 by freelancer Quote

T.D. Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 In another upset of sorts, Manzano (USA) got silver in the 1500m - first US medalist at that distance since Jim Ryun in 1968! Quote
Tim McG Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) I sure hope this lays to rest any other complaints from the fans of the Canadian Women's Soccer team relative to a "fix" of some sort: Source: No penalty called on cheap shot to the head. Just sayin'. Edited August 8, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote
