Larry Kart Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 message board shorthand for "On the other hand" Actually, it's both "on the one hand" and "on the other hand." Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Either "on the one hand" is implied or clearly it should be OTOH1 and OTOH2 to distinguish between different meanings for the exact same shorthand. Quote
Head Man Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Either "on the one hand" is implied or clearly it should be OTOH1 and OTOH2 to distinguish between different meanings for the exact same shorthand. Why not just say "On the one hand"...or, OTOH, say "On the other hand"?. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 I liked Criss Cross when they began and were recording the old guys. Not so much these days with the new guys. Same here. Whats the difference between the older and newer artists? Just guessing, but the difference some hear between bop/hard-bop and neo-bop? The difference between the music when it was fresh and the music when it was recreated by astute students of it? I got into the music just as the neo-boppers came out in force and I had/have no problem listening to both, but ... Dan is undoubtedly correct about this. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 National House of Pancakes - as told to me by Nils Winther. Quote
JSngry Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Hadn't heard that before, not like that...I always called it N-ternational House Of Pancakes, be being a stickler for literalness and all. Quote
JohnS Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Well at least Cross are giving the neo-boppers a chance to record. I've heard that playing opportunities are not that thick on the ground. Quote
